General

1. Give us the features of mutt . . . dammit! <smiley>
2. PGP (GnuPG) Integration
   • Encryption supported weakly by plugging-in PGP command-line tools without an external tool.
   • Ability to support RFC 2015
3. Implement Message threading (observe "Message-Id:", "References:", "In-Reply-To:" headers)
4. Put Pine under GPL (GNU General Public License)
   • A BIG wish, that will never happen
   • RMS's response
   • The current license does award advantages for UW.
     • The source code is made available (worst example of the misnomer "Open Source")
     • Can modify and distribute patches (legal strength of this seems vague).
5. Use XML documents, especially for help system, rather than patched up HTML 2.0. XML had its fifth birthday in 2003.
6. Write UNIX-flavored command-line utilities, replacing things like mail, supporting a user's central configuration file (PINERC, PINECONF), etcetera.

Folders

1. Compressed Folders (user-option)
2. Incoming-Folders Motion
• Command for moving to next incoming folder (^TAB)
• And/or have incoming folders be a loop, where Tabbing from the end of the folder will open the next folder
• Left arrow work the same as non-incoming folders

Message Index

1. Allow hiding of messages using a Hide Message Status Flag
2. Add more Message Status Flags for degrees of importance
3. Clarifications on the "FROMORTO" Index Format Token

Composing

1. Use roles when replying or forwarding to several messages (aggregate commands)
2. Allow replying to Attachments
3. Mailing List Reply by default
4. Allow Roles to set the To: & Subject: headers
• Don't ask me how this will operate when replying using Roles (I predict conflicts)
• The easiest implementation would be setting the To: and/or Subject: fields only when composing with Roles
• There could be the following options:
  1. Roles matches when Replying or Composing
  2. Setting To: and Subject: will overide original headers when replying every time
  3. If not then the user would have to make separate roles.
5. Allow Roles to set customized-hdrs (i.e. any header)
6. Better attachment support
   • Repeal the path length restrictions.
   • Allow aggregate selection in file browser.
   • Consider the current path typed to opening the file browser.

Headers

1. "Posted-and-Mailed:" header capabilities
• creating when necessary
• displaying when present
• Make Pine recognize and respond appropriately to the "Mail-Copies-To:" header.
• Lowercase replacement for "_SMARTDATE_" Reply-Leadin Token

PC-Pine

1. Implement the Pipe command in PC-Pine.
2. At the least Open Source or better release as free software.
3. Have Alt-C and Alt-V be Copy and Paste respectively, instead of Ctrl-Shift-C and Ctrl-Shift-V
• This will make it the same asTera Term Pro
• This requires chaning the Config menu to Config or change it to something else, like Options
